Zines - On Their Way

I Would Take One

Goodmorning

NY - Old Friends

NYC Trip

Sorry I have been absent this week! Yet there still might not be many posts for a few days as I am heading to New York City tomorrow to visit with friends, and take in some culture.

On the docket?
The new SoHo location (and only US location) of UNIQLO.
A visit to the MET.
Garden party with friends, including wine and cheese.
Some over-priced diner food followed by ice cream

I’ll post some pictures of the trip next week.

It’s Friday!

Ok, for the ladies ‘o fashion out there: Who didn’t love at least one of the following as a little girl; Paper dolls, Fashion Plates, Barbies, playing “dress-up”, or reading YM magazine poolside???…Or maybe that was just me in the 5th grade.

Regardless, there is something about the art of raiment that girls just love. My friend over at The Wing made me hip to this site this week: Polyvore. Essentially it is a virtual forum where users share, and compile fashionable ensembles to create little web tableaus. It’s a lovely idea. And each piece chosen for your creative vignette is available for online purchase.

Inspired by Covers is a rad little contest featured on Polyvore right now. Their “CoverBrowser” displays galleries of comic book (and book, pulp, games, DVD and magazine) covers, that anyone can explore and use. They are challenging users to create a set inspired by one of the many thousands of covers on display. Three winners will be chosen based on creativity and imagination, and featured on the Polyvore homepage as well as on CoverBrowser.”

Sleevage

Check out Sleevage, a music cover art weblog. The regular updates (via RSS) are nice, but even nicer is the ability to browse their archive (via dropdown menus) by Musical Artist, Cover Artist, Design Studio, Record Label, Genre, and Era. They offer personal commentary on favorite albums/covers, like Boards of Canada’s Music Has the Right To Children

and more thorough examinations of interesting packaging concepts, like Spiritualized’s Ladies and gentlemen we are floating in space
